Un-American Airlines

As I am sitting here thinking about my summer schedule for work and my few pleasure travels, I am reminded again how evil, cruel and stupid this world is.

I was booking a flight to Denver, Colorado through American Airlines (AA.com) and made a simple mistake of booking the wrong departure city. All I needed to do was change the city, not the date, which mind you was a month away. They not only charged me an additional $150 to change it, they would not even refund the flight after I cancelled it!

So to sum it all up, I purchased a ticket online. Cancelled the same ticket. Got charged $150 for cancelling my own flight a month in advance. Now, they are not rescheduling my flights as it was my error to place the flight in the first place.

I usually don't complain too much because turnabout is fair play. However, being charged for something I did myself is ridiculous! It is not like they had strenuous hours laboring over my cancellation. I DID IT! In two minutes online, mind you.

As you start arranging your summer plans and flights, make darn sure you select the correct flights, and if you make an error, don't let the first one be booking with American Airlines. They have horrid flights and even worse customer service.

Fly SOUTHWEST and pick your seat.

Until next time,

CWL

  1. I agree, American's customer service has gone downhill; however, they still seem to have the cheapest flights and I'm almost to my free trip from frequent flyer miles! Plus, because American overbooks a lot of their flights, they are almost always offering travel vouchers to people willing to give up their seats. So, if you have a flexible schedule, it's an easy way to get a free flight!
